30 YEARS OF CYBERGEO: 1996 - 2026

The electronic journal Cybergeo: European Journal of Geography, founded in 1996 and supported by CNRS, is the first digital native journal in social sciences and Humanities in the world. In open access and free of charge, it is multilingual and works with several international reading committees with a focus on geography but open to a wide range of disciplines.  Hosted by OpenEdition since 2007, the journal subscribes to the Freemium business model since 2011 and is regarded as a successful example of the diamond model.

The symposium, which celebrates the journal's three decades of existence, will review the main achievements that bear witness to the ongoing anticipation of its editorial policy. Keynote speakers will present the scientific advances credited to this publication and highlight the issues at stake in the main subjects dealt with by geography for the human and social sciences and contemporary societies. The meeting will also be an opportunity to hear key players discuss recent developments in new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, and to present the future projects that the journal is developing for scientific publishing in the humanities and social sciences.
